About 70 per cent of the TRNC’s population will be vaccinated by July

About 70 per cent of the TRNC’s population will be vaccinated by the end of July, said Minister of Health, Ünal Üstel, following the shipments of vaccines by Turkey to the country.

Ünal Üstel made the revelation on Thursday following weekly shipments of vaccines to be sent by Turkey starting as of this week.

Evaluating his contacts in Ankara, Turkey, Üstel said that 80,000 people in the TRNC have already been vaccinated, adding that the vaccination drive will speed up with the arrival of more vaccines.

Üstel said private hospitals will be included in the vaccination drive so as to speed up the process.

We shall be receiving weekly shipments of the Sinovac vaccine as of this week, he added.

The news of the vaccine shipments was announced on Wednesday following a meeting between Üstel and his Turkish counterpart Fahrettin Koca.

Koca had told reporters that his ministry had been in regular contact and collaboration with the TRNC health ministry.
