University student' to be tried without arrest for careless driving
A university student has been released on bail and will face trial for drunk driving which resulted in an accident that left one person seriously injured.
Three people were injured in the accident that happened on May, 14 on Semih Sancar street in Kyrenia. One person had internal bleeding and currently receiving treatment at the general hospital in Lefkosa.
According to report by the police, the accused who was driving Mazda Axela saloon vehicle collided face-to-face with another car as a result of carelessness while under the influence of 227 milligrams of alcohol.
He was arrested and taken to court on Monday on charges of 'careless driving', 'driving under the influence of alcohol', 'driving without a driving license, insurance,' expired navigation license 'and not keeping the left of the road'.
Police said the accident caused a damage of 60 thousand TL in both vehicles and the accident was not covered by the insurance since the suspect was not licensed to drive.
Police stated that the investigation initiated against the suspect was completed and that he was a student in the country and demanded that he be given a guarantee that the court deems appropriate.
Judge Özge Uğraş released the suspect on bail with the sum of 20 thousand TL, banned from traveling abroad, must report to the nearest police station once a week and present a personal guarantee bill worth 100 thousand TL.
