Turkish troops will remain in northern Cyprus as Turkey continue to defend rights of Turkish Cypriots - Erdoğan
Turkey will continue to adopt a determined stance on the Cyprus Issue, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said.
Erdoğan speaking to Sabah newspaper in Turkey on Monday, said that it was out of the question for Turkey to allow the Greek Cypriot side to continue to abuse the Turkish Cypriot people by imposing unjust embargoes and subjecting them to international isolations.
We shall continue to seek the rights of the Turkish Cypriot people to the very end. We trust no one but ourselves,” added the Turkish president.
Erdoğan also announced that he will be taking part in this year’s 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day celebrations in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Touching upon the issue of guarantees, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that Turkey rejected the Greek Cypriot side’s demands for the withdrawal of Turkish troops from the island and to hand over the island’s security to the European Union (EU).
