Man caught for trying to help 4 people enter south Cyprus illegally escapes from quarantine
A man who tried to help four foreigners enter south Cyprus illegally from North Cyprus and tested positive for coronavirus is on the run.
The suspect is among five people who were caught trying to enter south Cyprus illegally at about 8:30pm on May, 19, 2021.
Police
said four of the suspects were on their way to Akıncılar village when
they stopped a vehicle driven by A.B at the entrance of the village. A.B
stopped for them and took their luggage into his car. They were caught by
the police while in the process of planning their movement.
They were then taken to court on charges of forming a secret alliance with a plan to enter southern Cyprus illegally.
After their arrest, they were made to take PCR test which came out positive for A.B.
He was taken to quarantine hotel but escaped afterwards.
Police said they are still on the look out for A.B as investigation continue into the incident.
Court judge, Temay Sağer ordered an investigation into his escape as he pose as a threat to public health.
Judge Temay Sağer, also ordered the 4 other suspects to remain in prison for no longer than 25 days.
