Israel and Hamas agree ceasefire

The Israeli security cabinet has approved a unilateral ceasefire to end a military operation in the Gaza Strip after 11 days of fighting, Israeli media have reported on Thursday.

The statement says the truce was proposed by Egypt and will be "mutual and unconditional".

Hamas has confirmed that a "mutual and simultaneous" truce with Israel would begin at 2am on Friday.
