Homeless student who went to police for help arrested for not having a resident permit
He didn't have a place to stay and decided to take refuge in the police but was arrested for not having a resident permit.
A student identified only as E.I.M have been arrested and detained by Turkish Cyprus police for living in the TRNC with out a resident permit.
The student had visited the police branch in Lefkosa at about 2:00pm on Tuesday to ask for help because he was homeless but was arrested after it was determined that he didn't have a resident permit.
He was brought to court in Lefkosa on Wednesday on charges of illegal residency.
Police said the student has been residing without a residence permit since September, 30, 2020.
The student who is a student of Near East University was detained for 2 days for investigation purpose.
