7 people, 5, Bangladeshi, 1 Nigerian and 1Pakistani arrested for trying to enter south Cyprus illegally
Seven people, five from Bangladesh, one from Nigeria and the other from Pakistan, were arrested last week for violating a military forbidden zone in Alayköy while attempting to enter south Cyprus illegally.
They were caught by soldiers on duty at a first degree military forbidden zone in Alaköy at about 9:20pm on Thursday, April, 1 while trying to enter south Cyprus illegally.
The suspects between the ages of 22 and 28 were taken to court on Friday on charges of trespassing.
The investigator said the suspects in their testimony said they were left in the area where they were captured by a person they paid money to.
They were ordered to remain in detention for 3-day for more investigation to be carried out on the issue.
