TRNC government announces revised measures, night time curfew to start from 10:00pm

The government of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has announced a revised coronavirus measures with night time curfew to begin from 10:00pm and end at 5:00am.

The new decisions announced by Prime Minister Ersin Sarner after a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Friday is in line with the new decisions taken by the Higher Committee for Infectious Diseases under the Infectious Diseases Law.

By the new decisions, night time curfew will continue between 10:00pm and 5:00am every day of the week except on Sundays, when a total lockdown will be imposed.

- On Sundays, all businesses and activities will be closed, except for pharmacies, bakeries, gas stations and agriculture, animal husbandry and related industrial enterprises.

-As from April, 1, team sports and trainings will be held in closed areas without an audience.

- On Monday-Saturday; Markets will be open between 8:00am and 9:00pm.

-Retail and merchandising services, restaurants and all services / sectors that are not specified as closed will open between 10:00am and 9:00pm.

-Restaurants, patisseries, cafes and taverns will be able to maintain their outdoor seating functions in addition to delivery services.  

-Passengers coming from some European countries, including the UK, will be subjected to 14 days of quarantine.

Closed Places;

- Movie theaters, show centers, engagement-wedding halls, birthdays, religious festivals, casinos, bars, taverns, hookah cafes and halls, internet cafes, all kinds of game halls, indoor playgrounds, massage rooms, spa, open buffet restaurants, night clubs, club, Turkish bath, saunas.

Open Places;

All businesses and activities that are not stated implicitly can be open under stated conditions.

In open businesses, an arrangement will be made so that the total of customers and employees will be 1 person per 5 square meters. Sectors that are open will be audited by the associations they are affiliated with and the District Police Boards.

-Since the prevalence of infection is lower in Lefke-Güzelyurt-İskele-Famagusta districts and in order to prevent the spread of infection to these districts, movement to and from Lefkosa and Kyrenia to these districts will be controlled by the District Police Boards of the passages.

- In Lefke and Güzelyurt districts, transportation will be available within the district and between the two districts.

- In İskele and Famagusta districts, transportation will be possible within the district and between the two districts.

- There will be no passenger transportation between Lefkosa and Girne districts. Only in-district passenger transportation will be available in Lefkosa and Girne districts.

- Transporting passengers by taxi from Girne and Lefkosa to other districts will be subjected to permission, while buses and minibuses will not be allowed to travel to these districts.

-Barbers, hairdressers, beauty salons and tattoo studios / salons will continue their work between 7:00am and 7:00pm.
