Three students who were robbed and attacked in thier apartment in Lefkosa arrested for not having resident permit
Three people who were attacked and robbed in their apartment by a group of 6 people last week have been arrested for residing in the TRNC without a resident permit.
The three whose apartment were raided, beaten, and their money and belongings stolen by 6 people in Lefkosa on February, 25 were found to be living in the country without registration as students.
The suspects, who have been in detention for 3 days were taken to court for security on Tuesday.
Police officer Ali Gencer, who is in charge of the case, told the court, that the suspects complained to the police about a robbery incident, serious assault, overnight house opening, injury and deliberate damage that took place in their apartment in Lefkosa on February 25, 2021.
Police said two of them have been without a residence permit in the country since 30 September 2020 and the third since 23 March 2018.
The officer stated that the investigation on the suspects, all three of whom are Nigerian nationals, has been completed.
Judge Temay Sağer, who evaluated the testimony given in his presence, ordered the suspects to be put on remand and sent to prison for a period not exceeding 1 month for this purpose.
