Student caught with drugs, friend tried to get permit on her behalf

A student has been arrested and detained for possessing a cannabis-type narcotic substance weighing about 130 grams, packaged ready for sale.

Police officer who testified in court said the suspect identified only as A.A, on sighting the police in an operation carried out in Lefkosa on February, 16 went to the balcony of her apartment and threw the drugs on her neighbor's balcony and escaped.

Police said they found 15 wrapped packages of the substance weighing about 130 grams, ready for sale in the bag that the suspect had thrown.

Police stated that the suspect who was missing for 10 days was caught going to the address where the drug was found and trying to carry her belongings.

During interrogation, the suspect said she is unaware of the drugs and did not accept the accusations.

Police said as a result of the investigation carried out on the issue, they were able to determine that on March 1, 2021, a person connected to the suspect, had used the suspect's university identity card to process a student certificate from the university and also did a blood test on her behalf to get a residence permit in exchange for money.

Police said the suspects' student status was canceled.

The suspect was sent to the Central Prison for a period of not more than 2 months until her cases are discussed.
