About 7, 800 university students who left the TRNC due to out break of the Pandemic had return to the island, with more expected to return said, TRNC Prime Minister, Ersan Saner.
Saner made the statement on Wednesday when speaking to a media news outlet.
According to him, his government was working for the welfare and prosperity of the country, and since assuming office in December they have been working on reviving the economy’s two locomotive sectors, tourism and higher education.
To this, he said that about 7,800 university students who had left the island due to the pandemic had returned to the island.
We are expecting another 1,035 students to arrive in the first two weeks of April. We believe the students will drum up business for the shops. The plan prepared by the Ministry of Education and Culture is going ahead as envisaged, he said.
He pointed out that the government was working to make the TRNC better and according to him, the TRNC fared better compared to other countries as could be seen from statistics, with a fewer number of cases and deaths.
Speaking on the government’s new electronic wristband project for home isolation, Saner said the TRNC will be the first country to use this system.
The system will be used for home isolation or quarantine as well as for tourists who will not leave their hotels, he said, adding that they were doing everything possible to get the wheels of the economy turning.
