Lockdown will be much more longer due to increasing number of cases - TRNC Minister of Health

The lockdown period will be extended due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the TRNC, Minister of Health, Ali Pilli has said.

Minister of Health, Ali Pilli during a televised interview on Monday said the lockdown period will be prolonged adding that it does not seem possible to open up immediately with the level of cases.

On Monday, 46 cases of coronavirus were reported in the TRNC of which 36 of them are local cases.

Of the cases, 18 were detected in Lefkosa, 21 in Kyrenia, 2 in Famagusta and 2 in İskele.

Underlining that the decision to close will continue due to the increase in cases, Pilli said,"We cannot open with these cases tomorrow."

He noted that health and economy should be taken together, but health comes first.

“Money is earned. But what will happen if you have money after losing health ”.
