Lockdown and curfew extended to Wednesday, February 10
The partial lockdown and curfew imposed by the government of TRNC last week has been extended till Wednesday, February, 10.
TRNC Prime Minister, Ersan Saner in an announcement during a press conference on Wednesday said the current restrictions, lockdown measures and night-time curfew in all districts have been extended for another week until Wednesday, February 10.
Irrespective of the latest decisions, the lockdown for Girne remains in force until February 10.
The ban on movement between all districts will also continue.
All businesses, shops and most public offices remain for the exception of essential services, supermarkets, petrol stations and pharmacies remain closed.
Restaurants are allowed to operate but only offer delivery and takeaway services.
The latest decisions came following a series of recommendations made by the Higher Committee for Infectious Diseases which convened on Tuesday to evaluate the latest epidemiological situation as well as the effectiveness of the measures in place.
Despite the lockdown, locally transmitted cases continue to rise, particularly in the Girne and Lefkoşa.
