Good news from WHO: Covid-19 cases have been on the decline for three weeks in a row
World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus reported that for three consecutive weeks, the global new type of corona virus (Covid-19) cases have dropped, although existing public health measures should not be compromised.
Stating that the number of cases has dropped for three weeks in a row worldwide, WHO Director General Ghebreyesus said,
There are still many countries with an increasing number of cases, but this decrease at the global level is encouraging.
Ghebreyesus held the first press conference held at WHO's headquarters in Geneva, two days a week, using video conferencing.
He sated that Covid-19 cases have decreased for three weeks in a row worldwide.
Stating that the decline in the number of cases shows that even the rapidly spreading strain of Covid-19 can be controlled, Ghebreyesus said,
If we continue to implement proven current public health measures, this shows that we can prevent infections and save lives.
Ghebreyesus, warned that "We have been here before," reminded that governments ended their quarantine practices early last year, causing the virus to come back "stronger".
Ghebreyesus warned that it is too early for governments to terminate existing measures in countries where Covid-19 vaccine practices have started.
