4,000 Students in misery as they could not return to their countries due to financial reasons
About four thousand students who graduated from universities in the country are in misery as they could not return to their countries due to financial reasons, said TRNC Member of Parliament, Tolga Atakan.
Tolga Atakan made the comment during a speech at the parliament on “tourism, education and transportation planning during and after the pandemic” on Thursday.
Tolga told the parliament that the President of the Nigerian Students Association had announced that four thousand students who graduated from universities in the country could not return to their countries due to financial reasons and were in misery.
"It is indispensable for the government to
focus on this issue in order not to lose the future."
Pointing out to the dramatic decline in local revenues, Tolga criticized the government, stating that the two leading sectors of the country, higher education and tourism have suffered a serious blow due to the pandemic.
He said planning should be done in consultation with higher education representatives, the answer to how many students will come is not known, and the risk of losing the level reached in higher education is faced.
