TRNC government extends partial curfew until February 1, Lefkosa and Girne might go on full lock down
The partial night time curfew announced by the government last week to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus in the TRNC has been extended until February 1.
According to the order published in the Official Gazette, it is forbidden to go out from 10:00pm to 5.00am in the country.
Criminal proceedings will be made against those who do not obey the ban.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Committee on Infectious diseases on Monday made a proposal to the Council of Ministers for "full luckdown" in Lefkosa and Kyrenia (Girne) until February 10, due to increase in the number of local contamination.
Also, entry and exit from other districts to Kyrenia and Lefkosa was suggested as well as the need for all schools to switch to "online education" and for night curfew to start by 8:00pm.
The decisions brought to the knowledge of the Council of Ministers have not yet been announced.
The reasons for the decisions was the fact that many contacts of coronavirus patients are hiding themselves and the ineffectiveness of contact tracing.
While it was stated that most patients arrived late due to the difficulties in their contact follow-up, “the worsening of the diseases, the increase in the need for hospitalization and intensive care, and the insufficient number of beds, nurses and doctors accordingly” were listed as reasons for closure.
The Committee also justified it's decisions of full lock down taken on January, 16 owing to coronavirus deaths of the young and the increasing number of cases.
