Inmates at the Lefkosa Central Prison in Northern Cyprus went on a hunger strike on Friday afternoon to protest against the poor living conditions in the prison.
According to report by local daily, Yeniduzen, prisoners demanded that the conditions in prison be improved especially during the pandemic period.
Prisoners at the center are allegedly still lying in the corridors, and there has been no open visitation for months. It is also claimed that there are cases of Covid-19 inside and that they are hidden.
Relatives of prisoners are preparing to take action in front of the prison on Saturday.
