Nigerian arrested after demanding that Turkcell refund his money
A Nigerian living in Cyprus has expressed frustration on how he was treated after he was arrested for demanding refund for a reported fake earphones he bought from telecommunication giant Turkcell.
According to the victim, who is publicly known as Africanzo, the incident happened on Wednesday, January, 6 at around 6:00pm when he walked into the MG
Turkcell İletişim Merkezi (kktcell) shop located on Karaoğlanoğlu Cd, Girne
99320, to buy a new Samsung Galaxy Ear Buds+.
He demanded for an original product and was told by the employee that the
price is 600TL. He got it, paid and left.
Getting home, he discovered that what he was given was a fake product. So he decided to go back to the shop the following day which was on Thursday to demand for a refund or an exchange.
He was told he cant get a refund so he demanded that they give him an original and will add more money if need be but was told that the one sold to him was the same designs with the original but the specs
aren't the same.
He said he started taking pictures and videos for documentation of whatever will happen only for one of the employees to
call the police on him.
At one time, he said he yelled using the F word but not directly
at the employee but this did not in any way stop the flow of business or
destroy any property, or attack
anyone or act in any aggressive manners.
He said police came, took his phone, and refused him to call his lawyer or anyone and then locked him up
around 5:00pm .
He was released the following morning around 11:00am
on January 8, and for some reason did not get back his phone till
Sunday January 10.
He said he is yet to get his refund.
He is seeking for justice.
