Group calls on TRNC government to bring more students into the TRNC under insurance

Turkish Cypriot Business People (İŞAD) have called on the government to fast track the transfer of students into the TRNC emphasizing that universities are very important for the survival and growth of tradesmen in the local economy.

In a statement by İŞAD Secretary General Levent Özerdağ, he underlined that universities are very important for the survival and growth of tradesmen in the local economy, due to employment made, spending for institutions, local sector agreements, local service procurement, transportation expenditures and daily expenses of students. 

Özerdağ pointed out that the universities contributed to the development of the region and the strengthening of the social structure by providing added value to the region where they are located, and made the following suggestions to universities:

1) Bringing university students to the country within the scope of Covid insurance,
2) Placing incoming students under quarantine in student dormitories across the country and covering quarantine expense.
3) Negotiate with aircraft companies to lower ticket fees or enter agreement with charter airplanes.
4) Face-to-Face education for incoming students, providing education incentive.
5) Schools should should open early and make online education fully efficient.
