TRNC introduces new pilot scheme for home quarantine measures
TRNC Ministry of Health on Monday introduced a new pilot scheme regarding those who will be quarantining at home in line with the fight against COVÄ°D-19.
On Monday, home quarantine measures were implemented with those quarantining at home made to wear an electronic wrist band that will alert authorities if they leave their home during the quarantine period.
Speaking on the new development on Monday, Health Minister Ali Pilli said that COVID-19 is continuing to make itself felt across the world and that they expected the number of cases to increase in the coming winter months.
He said therefore the measures in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will be increased in order to protect the people and reminded that the Health Ministry and its personnel were working to protect the people.
We are planning to move from the central quarantine centres to home quarantine. We believe that the home quarantine measures will be successful, said Pilli.
He noted that over the weekend 35 people who have been in contact with a person who has contracted the virus have been placed under house quarantine and are wearing electronic wrist monitors.
The minister said 230 passengers who arrived in the TRNC on Monday were given wrist monitors and placed under house quarantine.
He said that if the trial is successful then protocols will be signed with a company to purchase more electronic bracelets and added that it is widely expected that the system will come into full effect within a short period of time.
