Student arrested for breaking into banks and phone shop in Lefkosa say he would repeat the crime if released

A student who was arrested for breaking into several banks and shops in Lefkosa has told court that he will repeat the crime if released from prison.

The suspect only identified as E.C.A, who was arrested two weeks ago for breaking into three banks and telephone dealers shops in Lefkosa with an iron cutting tool was taken paraded in court on Friday last week for trial. 

The suspect committed the crime September where he reportedly took away two checks worth £ 5,000 each.

The police stated that the suspect confessed to the crimes in his voluntary statement and said that his family was very poor and that he would commit similar crimes if he was released because they had no power to read.

Police who said their investigation into the matter was completed said the suspect sent some of the money he stole to his family in Nigeria and also paid his tuition fee.

The suspect, who did not object to the detention request of the police, said, 

Whatever the police say is true.

Judge Temay Sağer ordered the suspect to be sent to prison for a period of no longer than 45 days as an invalid prisoner.
