6 Students trying to enter south Cyprus illegally arrested in Famagusta
Six Africans including 3 men and 3 women hiding under a tree in Beyarmudu Primary School in Dörtyol, Famagusta, North Cyprus to illegally cross to Southern Cyprus were arrested and detained by Turkish Cypriot police.
The suspects were arrested on Monday, November, 2 and taken to court in Famagusta on Wednesday last week.
Police said they were found hidden under a tree in Beyarmudu Primary School, with their bags and suitcases.
Police said the suspects who are all from Cameroon came to the TRNC for studies and because they could not renew their registration due to financial difficulties decided to look for someone who can help them get to south Cyprus illegally in return for money.
Police said they are searching for a suspect believed to have taken money from them to help them cross to south Cyprus illegally.
Camera records will be investigated.
They told the police that they were dropped off at the place by a the man whom they could not identified after paying him some money.
Court judge ordered that they be sent to prison for 3 days for more investigation to be carried out.
