Woman arrested for entering the TRNC with fake coronavirus test

A woman has been arrested by Turkish Cypriot police for presenting a falsified documents at crossing point between north and south Cyprus. 

The suspect only identified as E.S entered the TRNC from the Kermiya crossing point on Tuesday, September, 8. 

Police said she submitted a photocopy of a PCR test result she had done at the Near East Hospital to a police officer in charge when he wanted to move to the north.

Investigation showed that she did the test on September, 1 but decided to change the date to September, 7.

The suspect, a Russian citizen, residing in the south and constantly coming to the TRNC was then arrested on charges of "falsifying documents and putting them into use".

She was released on bail and banned from traveling abroad.
