Turkish Cypriot man reportedly had sex with a missing 16-year-old girl in Lefkosa

A Turkish Cypriot man who reportedly had sex with a 16-year-old girl who was declared missing in Güzelyurt, has arrested.  

The suspect identified only as M.Ç., was reported to have had sexual intercourse with a girl younger than 16, who was reported as missing to the police by her family in Güzelyurt.

The suspect M.Ç, is said to have had sexual intercourse with the child in a wooded area in Lefkosa, and was arrested on charges of unlawful detention and rape. 

At the court, police witness said the suspect M.Ç. had taken a girl under the age of 16, whom he had known before in Güzelyurt, to Lefkosa on 7 September and had sexual intercourse with the girl in question in a forested area. 

The witness said the incident came to the police with the information that the girl was missing and that the investigation carried out later revealed that the suspect detained the girl in question. 

The witness stated that the girl was subjected to medical examination and that the relationship in question was determined after the statement given by the girl and the statement given by the suspect that they had sexual intercourse.  

The witness said that the investigation initiated on the issue has not yet been completed and that the complainant will be checked by a doctor again and demanded that the suspect be detained by the police for three days so that the investigation can be carried out safely.
