Facility busted washing and ‘recycling’ dirty condoms
Police have uncovered a “condom recycling facility” in Vietnam responsible for washing and repackaging more than 300,000 sheaths.
Police have discovered hundreds of thousands of condoms being washed and sold as new, following a raid on an apartment in Vietnam over the weekend.
Police said when they raided the facility in Tan Uyen Town in Vietnam’s south on Saturday all the condoms were found unlabelled and unpackaged.
The facility’s owner, Pham Thi Thanh Ngo, 32, told police the dirty sheaths would go through a process of being washed, dried and reshaped over a wooden dildo. The condoms would then be repackaged before being sold as if they were new, according to Vietnam Insider.
The owner said she’d been receiving a monthly delivery of about 1000 used condoms from an unknown source.
Police raided the facility in Binh Duong Province and seized a total of 324,000 used condoms, according to a report from Tuoi Tre News. Thousands of the unsanitary condoms had already been sold, according to the report.
Authorities said they are investigating and couldn’t provide further information, according to multiple reports.
Washing and reusing condoms can lead to disease and infection, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
