A drop in coronavirus cases expected by the end of the month - TRNC Minister of Health
TRNC Health Minister Ali Pilli issued a reminder to the public on Thursday to adhere to rules and regulations aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Pilli said that members of the public, workplaces, public and private institutions will be regularly inspected and that harsh penalties, including fines and the shutting of businesses will be applied on those who violate the rules.
The health minister also explained that the transfer of Turkish nationals in the TRNC with COVID-19 to hospitals in Turkey had also begun last night.
Pilli also said that the Turkish government had sent a large shipment of medical supplies and medicines in the fight against COVID-19.
Pilli added that the country’s health infrastructure had been strengthened to meet any scenario. The health minister said it was imperative for all establishments to follow the rules and regulations.

Motherland Turkey continues to be by the side of the TRNC and the Turkish Cypriot people with its assistance, he said, adding that TRNC citizens will also be transferred to hospitals in Turkey for treatment if the need arises.

As you all know we, as other countries have done, took a decision to open our doors to the world. We were aware of the possibility of a rise in cases when taking this decision and we made our necessary preparations. Naturally the decision to open up was economically motivated but the public’s health has always been a priority for us, he said.
Pilli added that the country’s health infrastructure had been strengthened to meet any scenario. The health minister said it was imperative for all establishments to follow the rules and regulations.
Everyone must do their part in curbing the spread of the virus. Everyone needs to wear face masks, maintain social distancing and follow hygiene rules, he said.
