Universities in northern Cyprus to start on October, 1 with 40% online class and 60% in person as education will not be interrupted again
Universities in northern Cyprus will start on October, 1 with classes to be conducted online and in person.
TRNC Minister of National Education and Culture Nazım Çavuşoğlu made the announcement in a press conference with Health Minister Ali Pilli on Friday.
Çavuşoğlu announced that the fall semester at universities will start on 1 October.
40 percent of the courses will be taught through supportive training (digital education) method, and 60 percent will be delivered face to face provided that social distance and necessary hygiene rules are met.

Çavuşoğlu said, "In a period when we say we have completely solved the problems, a covid-19 scourge that happened all over the world affected higher education.
Çavuşoğlu noted that 8 thousand students staying in the country were given food aid during the pandemic while universities continued online education.
Pointing to the success of the Student Friendly Island project, he stated that 500 TL will be donated to students who will enroll in the 2020-2021 academic year within the scope of the Student-Friendly Island project

Çavuşoğlu said that it is planned to start education at universities from 1 October. Stating that all decisions are made in line with YÖK, Çavuşoğlu said the 40 percent online and 60 percent face-to-face training model will be extended until January 30.
On the other hand, in case of force majeure, special applications will be made for students coming from abroad, and 60% and 40% of the application can be stretched in favor of the students.
"All educational institutions at all levels including private schools and universities will be made to follow the rules.
Noting that all educational institutions, private schools and universities are obliged to comply with the criteria set by the Ministry of National Education and Culture, Çavuşoğlu stated that they will be fully inspected whether the rules are followed in private teaching institutions, kindergartens, and private education institutions.
Çavuşoğlu stated that education will not be interrupted again, whether online or face to face education.
Health Minister Ali Pilli said that the Ministry of National Education and Culture and the Ministry of Health have completed all preparations for the opening of schools.
"Passenger capacity has been reduced in aircraft and ships.. The results of this will be seen in the coming period
Stating that the passenger capacity in planes and ships was reduced and the consequences of this will be seen in the coming period, Pilli noted that the effect of these will be seen after 21 days.
