Students coming to North Cyprus this year more than that of last year
The number of students expected to come to north Cyprus for study will not be less than that of 2019, said TRNC Minister of National Education and Culture Nazım Çavuşoğlu.
Çavuşoğlu made the expression on social media on Tuesday where he said he believed that the number of higher education students coming to the country will not be less than the number of last year.
The Minister said a total of 8,636 students, of which 2,191 in the associate degree field and 6,445 in the undergraduate filed gained the right to enter TRNC universities.
He pointed out that the number of students has increased according to the results announced this week compared to the number of students in the previous year in which 8,039 students gained the right to enter the TRNC's universities.
According to the YKS Placement Report, the occupancy rate in state universities was 95.77 percent, and 85.75 percent in private universities.
The number of students placed in TRNC universities increased by 597 compared to last year and reached 8,636. While 8,636 people were placed in TRNC universities this year, the occupancy rate was announced as 62.36%.

Noting that despite the pandemic period, the "Student Friendly Island" project and promotional activities carried out by our Ministry and the self-sacrificing efforts of our universities, the Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that the increase of interest in universities in the country and the increase in the number of students who have the right to settle is a great and important success made.
Expressing his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the process, Çavuşoğlu stated that they will continue to guide higher education in the country with solution-oriented studies and common sense, and added that they will stand by students who prefer the country within the framework of the "Student Friendly Island" project and will take steps to make their lives easier during their education life.
Prime Minister, Ersin Tatar on Wednesday said that they were expecting an increase in the number of university students in the country.
Speaking during a visit to Gazimağusa, Tatar said he could not give specifics but added that the initial information they received from the Turkish Higher Education Council was in this direction.
