Student jailed for one month for reportedly stealing an iPhone from a phone shop in Lefkosa
A suspect, a student in the TRNC who was arrested last week for stealing a phone from a phone shop in Lefkosa has been taken to court.
The suspected committed the crime on Thursday last week and was taken to court on Friday on charges of theft.
Police witness who testified in court said the suspect who is an active student in the country at about 4:00pm on Thursday, August, 13, entered a phone shop at city center, Lefkosa as a customer.
He reportedly got away with an iPhone, 7 brand valued at 2000TL which was given to him via the counter of the shop for promotional purpose.
Police said he was identified in Lefkosa on the same day and arrested in accordance with a pending order and the mobile phone taken as an exhibit.
Police said he confessed to the crime by giving a voluntary statement.
He was ordered to remain in prison for no more than 1 month.
