Pogba to sign new Manchester United contract, Arsenal interested in Bayern's Thiago

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is in talks over a new contract the club, according to his agent Mino Raiola and Arsenal have made a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, the Daily Mail reports.

Pogba has entered the final year of his existing deal, although the club hold an option to extend until 2022.

The France international has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford but Raiola said he will not leave the club this summer.

He is at the heart of the important project he told Sky Sports Italia.
Even in previous years, United have never entertained offers.

Asked whether he is close a new contract, he added:

We are talking very calmly without any stress.

Last month, Pogba said he was "happy" at the club amid reports he wanted to join Real Madrid or Juventus.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also said he was confident that Pogba would sign a new deal.

The midfielder performed well alongside Bruno Fernandes after the Premier League restart and helped United achieve a top-three finish for only the second time since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure in 2013.
Meanwhile, for the last few weeks it has seemed certain that Thiago would be making his way over to Anfield to join Liverpool, and with one year left on his deal, Bayern are eager to sell. The Spain international won't sign a new contract at Bayern and is keen on a move to the Premier League.

However, sources say that the Premier League champions would only likely to enter the transfer market if a significant member of Jurgen Klopp's squad leaves, with Georginio Wijnaldum's future in doubt.

So Arsenal have spied a gap, though if they want to get a transfer over the line the Gunners will need Bayern to lower their £23 million asking price for the 29-year-old -- and they could also be forced to sell Mohamed Elneny and Lucas Torreira as well.
