Drunk man involved in accident on the Lefkosa-Kyrenia highway

A 66-year-old man who was heavily drunk is lucky to be alive after he crashed his car onto the roadside steel barriers along the Lefkosa-Kyrenia highway on Tuesday afternoon.

The man, Nejdet Çavuşoğlu, 66, was driving towards Kyrenia around Ciklos along the Lefkosa-Kyrenia highway at about 11:00am on Tuesday when he lost control of the steering, crashed into the steel barriers and rolled over with his vehicle.

Police investigation revealed that he was under the influence of 90 promil alcohol at the time of the accident.

Nejdet Çavuşoğlu, who was injured in the accident, was taken to Kolan British Hospital in Gonyeli for treatment.
