Young student arrested in Lefkosa for stealing goods worth 400TL from her work place
A young student has been taken to a court in Lefkosa, north Cyprus for stealing goods worth 400 Turkish Lira from her work place.
The accused, a 21-year-old girl from Siera Leone and a student in one of the universities in Lefkosa was arrested on Sunday, May, 31 for allegedly stealing items including shoes, denim shorts, denim skirts, trousers and a T-shirt worth 400TL from a shop in Lefkosa where she is a worker.
She was taken to court on Monday on charges of theft.
Police prosecutor told the court that the suspect took the various items from the shop and left without paying. She was arrested on the same day in accordance with a pending order obtained from the court.
The prosecutor told the court that the suspect is an active university student in the country, and demanded that the court release her on bail with a guarantee that she will be tried at a later date.
The court ordered the suspect be released on bail with a cash deposit of 5,000 TL pending trial. She is banned from traveling abroad and must report to the police station at least once a week.
