TRNC police warns of fake 500 Euro note in circulation
Turkish Cypriot police has issued a warning to the general public on the circulation of fake 500 Euro note.
The police in a statement on Tuesday said a fake 500 Euro banknotes with serial number P04148355088 may have been circulated after an exchange office employee operating in Lefkosa was arrested for replacing a fake 500 Euros with an original one.
He then gave the fake bank note to a customer.
According to the police the accused, only identified as K.P, 33 committed the crime at about 2:00pm on Saturday, May, 30.
Investigation regarding the incident is ongoing and the person in question arrested for theft.
Considering the possibility that the fake bank note might have been circulated in the market, the police wants everyone to be careful and to report anyone found with such money to the nearest police station.
