Student arrested for stabbing his 6 month pregnant girlfriend
A student was on Sunday arrested for stabbing his 6 month pregnant girlfriend in Girne.
The accused committed the crime at about 8:30pm on Sunday in Girne when he hit the victim on the head and then injured her in the back of her leg with a fruit knife. He was arrested same day and taken to court on Monday.
The police officer, who testified in court, said the man living with his girlfriend and a mother of two, stabbed his girlfriend after quarreling with her over loud music which was being played in their house.
The investigating officer said that the woman was injured after being stabbed by a knife.
The suspect had the status of a student in the country but is not active in the current semester because had freezed his registration.
The police prosecutor told the court that the investigation launched against the suspect, was completed and requested that he be released on guarantee.
Senior Judge Gökan Asafoğulları, who was hearing the case in court, banned the suspect from leaving the country, in order to ensure his availability when the case is brought back to court.
The suspect will be required to report every week to the police station. He was told to make a deposit of 5,000 TL and a payment of 50 thousand TL from a trustee who is a TRNC citizen.
The judge then ordered that he will be released after agreeing to bail conditions.
