TRNC government attacked for allowing a group of people into the country without being quarantined
TRNC government over the weekend received barrage of criticisms over a group of people allowed to enter the country without being quarantined.
Nine people on Friday last week arrived at Ercan Airport via special charter flight from Antalya, Turkey and left through an emergency exit door from where they were transported to a hotel in Kyrenia.
The government in its response, said permission were taken to allow them in as they would not come in contact with the public.
Speaking on the issue in Parliament session on Monday, opposition Parliament members criticized the government of double standards and for putting the public health at risk.
CTP Member Sıla Usar directed a question at Prime Minister Ersin Tatar, about why the people who came to the country for Lapta Marina were allowed to enter without undergoing a test and quarantine.
Responding to the question, Tatar said
Minister of Public Works and Transport Tolga Atakan said that he had no knowledge of this event and it was for his ministry alone to give permission for flights into the country.
Current rules say that anyone entering the country must remain in quarantine for 14 days.
The group left the island on Sunday, 1 day earlier than their supposed departure.

These people did their job and went without getting into the public. If they did something else, we will investigate and find it.
