New case of coronavirus announced in TRNC on Monday is false
Positive in the morning and negative in the afternoon? There was fear in the streets of Northern Cyprus on Monday when it was first reported that a new case of covid-19 had been recorded in the country but it turned out to be false after a test carried out on the person came out negative for the virus.
A female passenger and her child who arrived the TRNC from Turkey on Monday morning had reportedly tested positive for the virus but test carried out by the Ministry of Health later showed that she was negative for Covid-19.
The woman and her child who displayed Covid-19 symptoms were taken to the Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosa where they underwent PCR testing.
The remaining passengers who travelled with her were placed in quarantine and are being kept under observation.
Health Minister Ali Pilli who had earlier announced that there was a new positive case in parliament later made a new announcement that Covid-19 tests carried out on the woman and her child were negative.
