More restrictions lifted in North Cyprus as normalisation process continues

North Cyprus is edging closer to removing the few remaining restrictions put in place as part of efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

As of today, Monday, June, 1 the night-time curfew has been lifted.

Hotels, casinos, betting offices, tattoo parlours, culture and art activities, cinemas, exhibition halls, libraries and day-care centres have also opened today.

The Turkish Cypriot residents of the mixed village of Pile will also be able to cross into the TRNC as of today under conditions determined by the Ministry of Health.

The residents will have to give an assurance in writing that they will not cross over to South Cyprus.
The villagers will also have to undergo PCR testing for the first time they cross over to the north.
Other lifted restrictions include those for TRNC citizens living abroad.

All TRNC citizens, who reside permanently on the island, will be allowed entry into the country as of today but will be placed in 14-day mandatory quarantine.

The cost of their accommodation will be covered by the state.

The repatriation of Turkish Cypriots who passed away abroad will also be allowed as of June 1.
Non-TRNC citizens such as students or those with work or residency permits will be allowed to return to the TRNC as of June 8.

They will also have to spend 14-days in quarantine upon their arrival.
