Search resumes for young man missing at sea

Turkish Cypriot police on Sunday resumed search for a young man who disappeared at sea off Alagadi on Saturday when he went to swim with friends.

The search for 27-year-old Mehmet Ceyhan by coast guard helicopters had to be suspended at 6.30pm on Saturday because of adverse weather conditions.

Ceyhan jumped into the sea at Alagadi on Saturday in an effort to help rescue 22-year-old Gözde Nur Binbir who was overcome by heavy sea waves. Her body was has recovered while Ceyhan was missing.

Efforts to find him on Sunday were called off due to the extreme fluctuation of the sea.
