Schools to remain close in north Cyprus until June, 30, more restrictions lifted
Schools will remain close in north Cyprus until at least June, 30, while some restrictions will be lifted by Monday, April, 18 including the opening of barbing saloon said TRNC Deputy Prime Minister Kudret Özersay on Monday.
Kudret Özersay made the announcement during an interview with local TV, BRT, following a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Monday.
Özersay stated that the Science Committee of the TRNC Ministry of Health have decided not to start formal education before June 30, effectively ending the session's academic period.
Özersay also stated that some restrictions will be lifted as of Monday, May 18.
Here are some key decision taken by the Council of Ministers;
-Night time curfew between 9:00pm-6:00am will continue until 1 June.
-Sunday partial curfew will be lifted from Monday, May, 18 as it no longer serve it's purpose which means all business will be allowed to open on Sundays.
-From, Wednesday, May 20, barbers and hairdressers will be allowed to re-open but that they will only be open for haircuts. Shaving beards and carrying out other beauty-related procedures such as manicures and pedicures will not be permitted. Service will only be on appointment and the use of face mask is mandatory.
-As of May 18, individual boats excluding tour ships will be allowed in marinas.
-Mobile food vendors will be able to sell from May 18th.
-Individual or family will be able to go to the historical sites from Monday, May, 18.
-Ban on public transport, betting centers and sports competitions will continue until 1 June.
-Sea and air transport will be open only to TRNC citizen who reside in the TRNC from June, 1 on the condition that they will be quarantined.
- Individual sports activities and training are free in sports fields.
- Individual walking activities can be done on the hiking trails.
- Picnic areas, parks and playgrounds are closed until 1 June.
- It is free to do sports activities in picnic areas and green areas.
- Schools and educational institutions remain closed until 30 June, this school period is closed in terms of education.
- Market places will be opened from Sunday, May 17th including those owned by municipalities and open-air ones. How the benches will be sorted, the entrances and exits will be carried out within the framework of the rules to be determined with the Municipalities.
- From Monday, May, 18, peddlers will be able to sell.
- All social events and collective events are prohibited until 1 June.
- Closed businesses and businesses not mentioned above will be banned until 1 June.
