Extreme temperature warning for Saturday, Sunday and Monday
The Cyprus Met Office has issued an extreme temperature warning for Saturday with temperatures expected to reach 41 C inland, 8-10 C above normal, starting from Saturday.
The extreme weather will between 12.30pm and 5pm om Saturday.
According to a statement, maximum temperature inland is expected to reach 41C.
Winds will blow from the north and east, occasionally moderate.
The heat could affect vulnerable groups of the population like children and the elderly.
The public is adviced to protect themselves against the effects of the sun and to guard against any action that could constitute a fire hazard, for example, barbeques and dropping unextinguished cigarette ends onto dry grass.
