Cops left red-faced after receiving reports of a body lying on a busy highway - only to find a life-like SEX DOLL

Police officers investigating a possible 'homicide' were left red-faced after the 'body' turned out to be a life-sized sex doll. 

Queensland Police were alerted to a 'dead body' wrapped in a blanket that had been dumped on a trail off the Bruce Highway in Mackay, 10 hours north of Brisbane, at 7am on Friday.

They quickly set up a crime scene as detectives and scientific officers scoured the surrounding bushland for evidence. But after hours of investigations on Friday afternoon, Queensland Police revealed they had been duped and that the corpse was actually a 'life-like replica doll of a human'. 

The crime scene has been disbanded. Officers will continue investigations into the origins of the doll.

Sex dolls are used to stimulate sexual intercourse without a partner. They come in a variety of types that range from cartoonish to realistic in appearance.
