Pep Guardiola's mother has died from coronavirus, UK corona death toll passes 5000

Pep Guardiola's mother has sadly died after contracting coronavirus while the death toll due to Covid-19 in the UK surpasses 5000.

Manchester City on Monday confirmed in a statement on social media that Dolors Sala Carrio passed away aged 82 in Manresa, Barcelona.

The Manchester City family are devastated to report the death today of Pep's moth Dolors Sala Carrio in Manresa, Barcelona after contracting Corona Virus. She was 82-years-old, the statement read.

Dolors was a former sales who was still married to Pep's father Valenti, a bricklayer.

They had four children. Pep is their third child, after having two daughters and then finally a second son.

It was understood she had been living in Santpedor, a quiet village in central Catalonia where Pep grew up.

In another news, the UK coronavirus death toll on Monday broke the 5,000-mark after 403 died in England alone.

NHS England confirmed the latest victims were aged between 35  and 106 - with 15 having no underlying health conditions.

In Scotland, two further people have died - bringing the total number of deaths to 222.

A five-year-old with underlying health conditions became the youngest coronavirus victim in the UK at the weekend.
