Turkish Cypriot taxi drivers protests in EMU, calls for actions against illegal and private drivers
Taxi drivers in Famagusta has staged a protest against illegal taxi operation they say has taken bread away from them.
In the protest on Wednesday at EMU, the group totaling almost 100 in numbers said that taxi drivers are having a hard time due to illegal transportation and called for it to stop.
They accused civilians of using private or rented vehicles to transport people from Ercan airport to EMU and within the university.
They noted that some of these private individual when caught by the police during inspections often lied that the customer they are carrying is their friend.
They said those who were previously caught in the act continued to do the job because they were not given enough sanction.
They called on the authorities to do more to stop this trend.

There is unfair competition, take precautions, the taxi drivers said, Pirate taxi drivers want to take away our bread, prevent it!
