Student falls from dorm balcony in Famagusta, arrested after treatment for theft (photo)

A student was hospitalized and then arrested for theft after falling from the balcony of a dormitory in Famagusta.

The incident happened at about 4:00pm on Sunday in EMU, when the 19-year-old student fell on the concrete floor from a height of 7 meters.

He was badly injured in the fall and taken to the Famagusta State hospital for treatment.

Further investigation by the police revealed that the student had fallen from the dorm balcony when he tried to hid himself after reportedly stealing an iPhone 7 plus.

It was when the owner of the phone opened the balcony door of the room, that the suspect lost his balance and fell.

He was arrested by the police after his treatment at the hospital on Monday.
