15 years old girl, said pills made her kill mother ‘who wanted to end her lesbian relationship’

A girl who killed her mother when she was 15 after allegedly being told to dump her girlfriend has blamed antidepressants for the shooting.

 Anna Schroeder, now 17, says she cannot be held responsible for the July 2017 murder of her mom Peggy, 53, because she was high on a drug called Zoloft at the time. Schroeder blasted Peggy in the head with a bullet at her home in Morrison, Illinois just three days after turning 15. 

She had previously claimed that then-girlfriend Rachel Helm had egged her on to pull the trigger after Peggy vowed to end their girls’ romance. Schroeder’s lawyer James Mertes told a court Friday that being forced to take Zoloft ‘deprived her of substantial capacity to appreciate the criminality of her conduct or conform her conduct to the requirements of law.’

It is unclear who forced Schroeder to take the drug, SaukValley.com reported.

Schroeder remains in jail ahead of her trial, which is scheduled to begin January 16.
