TRNC Amnesty will come into force after president's assent
The amnesty bill on foreigners and immigration which was unanimously approved by the TRNC parliament on Monday, November, 4 will enter into force upon publication in the official Gazette after the president's signature.
This was made known by the TRNC minister of Labour and Social Security, Faiz Sucuoğlu during a program on BRT on Tuesday.
The law within the borders of the TRNC will allow those with informal status in the country to regularize their status.
The program will be opened for 90 days during which those affected are advised to take advantage of the opportunity.
The Minister noted that the a similar amnesty program was issued in 2012, at that time, the State Planning Organization recorded 14.96% informality. In 2016, an amnesty was again released and informality was 14.31%. In 2018, this ratio increased to 20.44%, the highest in history. ”
The minister pointed that the government did not intent to issue an amnesty when they took office in April.
The amnesty was introduced due the number of workers and residents without permit.
