Student released after he was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend and destroying her phone

A student who was arrested and detained by the Lefkosa police department for assault, intentional damage and property theft has been release on bail.

The accused, a student in the country committed the crime on Saturday, November, 16 and was arrested and taken to a court in Lefkosa on Tuesday on charges of violence against a woman.

Police said the accused at 2:30am on the day entered his girlfriend's house through the bedroom window, physically assaulted her, took her mobile phone worth 4,700 TL and smashed it on the floor.

The accused was released on bail, banned from leaving the country, and must report to the nearest police station once a week until trial.
