Thousands takes part in Lefkosa Marathon (photos)

The Aton Lefkosa Marathon organized by the Lefkosa Turkish Municipality in partnership with telecommunication giant, Turkcell was held in Lefkosa on Sunday.

Citizens and visitors took part in the marathon covering 10 km and 21 km that started at 7.30am in front of the Lefkosa Turkish Municipality. A 4 km Public Race was also held. 

The run for children attracted thousands of participants from all walk of life.

The TRNC president, Mustafa Akıncı, Prime Minister, Ersin Tatar, some ministers, MPs, politicians and citizens participated in the marathon.

 Roads around Lefkosa were closed to traffic. 

 The marathon is an annual event organized by the municipality.
