Overbuilding making Kyrenia (Girne) uninhabitable
Kyrenia, north Cyprus has become the “engine of the building sector” according to
media reports. In the space of only one year, 38,409 buildings have been
put up in the town.
Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Havadis’ writes that the town is becoming uninhabitable because of the increase in traffic, a lack of parking places and an inadequate sewage plant.
According to the statistical data from the Turkish Cypriot constructors’ union regarding the construction files of Kyrenia district license authorities in the Kyrenia district, a total of 38,409 constructions were built in the Kyrenia district in 2018, of which 34,969 were residential and 2,301 were commercial buildings.
