Greek Cypriot police officer arrested for leaking information about an operation to criminals
A Greek Cypriot police officer has been arrested and detained for leaking information about an operation in south Cyprus.
The 41-year-old police officer stationed at the Paphos police station was arrested on Wednesday on charges of informing criminals about a planned police drug operation.
The leak was detected by the police internal audit department.
In a statement, the force said the 41-year-old officer was arrested by the internal affairs unit as part of combating corruption.
Reports said the officer is suspected of passing on information relating to the drug squad.
